As my mind is totally submerged within note-taking, reports, and deadlines, I suddenly stopped and had to think for a while. Not like I wasn’t, but outside of all this work.

I spent the evening of Friday around 6pm-ish until this very moment; Monday 1am. I spent 3 days cooped up in my room, doing nothing but work. Studying linear systems, then to electronics, then to physics, then back to linear systems… I had about 6 hours of sleep each night. I hadn’t stepped outside for a damn long time.

I realized all the things that were occurring around me, because it felt like the clock stopped for a couple of days when it really hasn’t.

All this time I’m spending on my education as a soon-to-be engineer… it’s a damn lot. It’s well worth it, but damn that’s a lot of life just slipping by.

I realized, damn, you have to like what you’re doing. You’re missing a fucking shit load of things out there while you’re going pen-after-pen doing mind numbing things. There’s no way a human spirit can stay sane doing this unless you actually like it.

I kinda realize why engineering school is so feared. I don’t know, I like it. It’s not too bad. It’s just hard to think how much of my life needs to be paid in debt for it.

With all of these things in consideration, it’s not a question of life; “Oh, it’ll be worth it in the end”, or “I’ll be well off with plenty of money and time when I’m done with this”. It’s a simple matter of fact whether you fucking like it or not. There’s no other way to keep sane.

Today I built a small theft-alarm. Waving your hand over the contraption sends out a squarewave pulse that leads to a speaker I’ve yet to buy.

I guess a normal beeping sound would be sufficient, but I think I’m gonna spend some time trying to hook up a thumbdrive of some sort preloaded with J.Biebz or something. That’ll keep any intruder away
